Google invites users to share suggestions to improve the AI assistant’s functionality by integrating more applications and services.
With the wide launch of Gemini extensions this week, Google decided to ask users what other integrations they’d like to see . Extensions allow Gemini to access data and perform tasks across other services, expanding its capabilities as a virtual assistant.
Recently announced extensions aim to make the Gemini app on Android a more complete phone assistant . Among them, the Utilities extension, first shown at I/O in May, allows Gemini to control devices without having to rely on Google Assistant, significantly improving integration.
Extensions currently available
Extensions available so far include tools like Google Flights, Google Home (still in public preview). Hotels, Maps, and Workspace, which covers apps like Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Drive, Keep, and Tasks. Platforms like Messages, Phone, YouTube, and YouTube Music have also been integrated. Additionally,It has included the OpenStax project for access to educational resources.
On the third-party front, options are still limited, with Spotify and WhatsApp among the first platforms to be supported. There are currently 13 extensions available for Android users, compared to seven for the Apple iPhone, app and the web browser version https://gemini.google.com/app.
