NEO Gamma, the robot butler that washes, tidies and vacuums is reality.

NEO Gamma, the latest robot from 1X, promises to revolutionize household chores with its eye-catching design and advanced AI. Between excitement and doubts, a new era in human-machine interaction in the home opens.

Norwegian-American company 1X recently introduced NEO Gamma . The latest evolution of its line of humanoid robots for home use. NEO Gamma has a “friendly” and reassuring appearance and is designed to integrate harmoniously into domestic environments .

The humanoid robot is completely covered in a beige nylon suit, made with 3D printing, which gives it a minimalist and Scandinavian look. It is not only an aesthetic and style choice, but also a functional one . In fact, the soft covering allows for safer interactions with humans and pets, while reducing operating noise.

NEO Gamma: The Future of Home Robotics is Here

Technically, NEO Gamma boasts numerous improvements over its predecessor, NEO Beta. The robot is now able to walk with a more natural gait , move its arms fluidly, and even sit on a chair, thanks to the use of Reinforcement Learning.

The built-in AI system allows NEO Gamma to perform a variety of household tasks, from tidying up to vacuuming to doing laundry. The robot is equipped with a visual manipulation model that allows it to grasp. And manipulate objects even in situations it has never encountered during training.

To improve human-machine interaction, 1X has equipped NEO Gamma with an advanced audio system with four microphones and three speakers , allowing the robot to communicate naturally using a language model developed in-house. A touch of originality is represented by the “emotional earrings” , LEDs positioned on the sides of the robot’s head that light up to indicate when it is speaking or listening.

“The future is not far off when we all have a robot as a helper at home. With NEO Gamma, every engineering and design decision was made with an aim in mind: to bring NEO into customers’ homes as soon as possible,” said Bernt Børnich, CEO of 1X.

1X’s journey to making home robots has been supported by significant investment from big tech. Between 2023 and 2024, the company raised over $123 million , with participation from major tech players like OpenAI . Additionally, 1X recently acquired Kind Humanoid , a California-based company that was developing its own humanoid robot called Mona.

As 1X prepares to begin internal home testing of the NEO Gamma. Many are wondering when these robots will actually be available to the public. The company hasn’t announced a price or official launch date yet. But it has opened a waiting list for those interested in becoming among the first owners of the NEO Gamma.https://youtu.be/5zv-ak0VuLs?si=jNp3aBlsUukDbDob
