As news of a possible US shipment of anti-personnel mines to Ukraine begins to circulate insistently, the US embassy in Kyiv reports that it has “received specific information about a potential significant air strike on November 20.” This is what can be read on the diplomatic mission’s website. It cautions that the embassy will be shut as a safety and that staff members have been told to seek safety elsewhere. it warns. US citizens have been warned and are ready “to take shelter immediately in the event an air raid warning is announced.” These words only increase the climate of tension and terror.
The US embassy’s announcement comes a day after Russia promised to respond to the launch of US long-range missiles from Ukrainian territory yesterday. Six Atacms ballistic rockets supplied by Joe Biden, in fact, were used for the first time by the Kyiv army to hit an ammunition depot in the Russian region of Bryansk. Five of these, according to the Moscow Defense Ministry, were shot down, while the sixth was damaged. There were no casualties or damage. But this is only the first of a series of raids that could now involve Russian air defense systems.
Uk Prime Minister Suggestion
But that’s not all. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer appears to suggest it’s only a matter of time before British-made Storm Shadow missiles are used by Ukraine against targets in Russia. Government sources, quoted by The Times newspaper, have stressed that the Atacms and Storm Shadows have different technical specifications, suggesting the US decision is not directly binding on the UK. Starmer said he would not go into “operational detail”, stressing the sensitivity of the situation, but a senior government source quoted by the newspaper said he “wants to allow Ukraine to use the weapons as it sees fit in its own self-defence”.
