The race for ultra-thinness is on! While Apple is preparing to revolutionize its range with the iPhone 17 Air, Samsung is preparing its counter-offensive with a Galaxy S25 Slim that has reportedly been spotted in the brand’s records.
For several weeks, rumors have been circulating that Apple is working on an ultra-thin iPhone model, planned for 2025, and called the iPhone 17 Air . In response, Samsung is reportedly developing a Slim version of its Galaxy S25.
Identified under the model number SM-S937 by our colleagues at the Smartprix site , this smartphone would be added to the classic range composed of the Galaxy S25, S25+ and S25 Ultra. Expected for the second quarter of 2025, the device would stand up to the Apple and, by arriving first, could establish itself as a reference in the ultra-thin terminal segment.
A slim design for a muscular technical sheet?
The iPhone 17 Air is said to feature a minimalist design with a single camera and smaller dimensions, targeting those looking for a thin device without the performance of the Pro models. However, Apple will face technical challenges in maintaining battery life and performance while minimizing thickness, which could limit its thinness ambitions .
Samsung is reportedly adopting a proactive strategy. This is not the first time that the South Korean firm has launched a model known to be very thin: in 2014, the Galaxy Alpha had already made an impression with its compact design. Leaks suggest that it could offer a camera worthy of the Ultra models , and thus not sacrifice its photo component. By registering this model in the IMEI database, Samsung confirms its objective of overtaking Apple in terms of innovation.
A calendar disrupted again
Both tech giants are targeting 2025 for the launch of their ultra-thin phones. While Apple is expected to stick to its usual schedule, with an iPhone 17 Air presentation in September 2025, Samsung could launch its Galaxy S25 Slim between April and May 2025, at the same time as competing models like Google’s Pixel 9a and the iPhone SE
